Rat Race
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux
In development Submission for SantaJam2024!
Not nearly as feature filled as I want, but I got it in rough enough shape to submit it in time. I intend to spend more time on this and get it to a point I'm prouder of.
At the moment though, just collect presents and take them back to your tree! You're racing against the mice who are trying to also collect them at their tree. You can both steal from each other's tree. Whoever collects all 25 presents first wins the round, your level will go up, and the presents will reset.
Intended in full version:
- Menu / Settings
- Proper animations
- SFX
- Item drops and modifiers the make the game more engaging
- Progression in difficulty as you level-up
- Properly resetting the rounds between levels

Ohhhh this is great! Thanks for the gift, I had a good laugh when I heard the metal blasting through the speakers and seeing the cheese vs Dutch flags :D It makes the gameplay feel more intense this way I guess
Having Ruby, our cat, at the top-left for scoring is a fun little touch, thanks for that!
I haven't won yet, I tried multiple strategies. Do you have any tips and tricks?
I'm glad you like it! Right now the best thing to do in my opinion is get a few of the gifts closest to your tree but after the rats start scoring, just steal from their tree while they are distracted by the presents in the field. Hopefully I can balance this more soon!
